Hello and welcome to
Today we're going to be looking at this pokemon morpher thing!
The pokemon morpher takes two pokemon and combines them to form a new one! but how does it know what the new one should look like? Well, it takes some properties from the pokemon on the left, and some from the pokemon on the right!
The left pokemon gives its color palette and face to the new pokemon! In this case there are only two colors in the palette - purple (the primary color) and yellow (the secondary color)
The pokemon on the right provides a template! It gives the new pokemon it's shape and tells the morpher where the face should go on that shape where the colors go also comes from this pokemon in this example, the secondary color was red, so the new secondary color will go where the red was and the primary color will go where the green was!
And there you have it! your very own new pokemon! so why does knowing this help? well, it gives us some dos and don'ts for each side!
The left pokemon will probably be the harder one for them to guess! make sure the face is hard to make out or not distinctive Charizard and Entei are good examples of ones to never use as the left pokemon (check out what it does with their faces) I haven't looked at what the most common palettes are yet!
Anyone who knows pokemon will probably be able to guess this one easily from the shape you can pick a common shape one to try to stop that but it probably won't work this one is mostly here to conceal the other one! Low color variation will probably help; Quagsire is a good example of a pokemon that will conceal most of the left's palette if used on the right A hidden face area might help too but I haven't looked into how that changes stuff much yet!
That concludes the class let's make some new pokemon!

Shelgon seems to have quite a hard face to recognise!

Aren't there a lot fish/animal pokemon that we can use shapes to make hard ones. Any thoughts on using the least commonly remembered pokemon btw. I guess the source on that would be sporcle but i think it could be useful.

Based on that tremendous explanation, I assume it makes sense to seek out evolutionary chains where the various forms share very similar colour palettes and faces in order to make it hard to distinguish between them as the Left option?

Mawile (#303) could be a good one on the left!
It has a massive mouth that sometimes covers up all of the right pokemon
I tried it with Luvdisc (#370)

Purple, Gray and Green also seem commmon, but not black and pink, black and pink are rather unccommon

Maybe - but they can use the pokemerger to check their answers if they have it narrowed down to a certain evolution chain quickly they can just check to see which is most similar I was looking at this before because Diglet and Dugtrio have very similar faces but it's easy to tell when you put them side by side
The best thing we could do is have them searching through the whole list for them |

These are poipole's suggestions gathered in one place!
Using Voltorb as the Right pokemon seems great! it's not hard to guess but it only shows two colors and the face sometimes gets distorted
I think Gulpin's face is too recognizable
Torkoal, Vibrava and Heracross are all amazing Left pokemon their faces are all really difficult to identify Heracross especially
Glalie's a pretty okay Right pokemon but I wonder if it might work better on the left I'm going to go test some stuff!

Some of the Shell pokemon are great on the Left combined with a Right pokemon like Metagross that only shows one color because the primary color is in the inside and not the one you see most of

I mean like it goes by percentage of people so hopefully we can just accept the percentages as the ultimate guide, but like the later gens are less likely to be well known I agree
